John Vere-Hodge is a British artist, painter and sculptor who was born in East Africa and has lived and worked in the UK, New Zealand and Central and Southern Europe. His work reflects a life-long obsession with the visual creation of two dimensional and three works of art.

About John

John Vere-Hodge was born in East Africa and spent his formative years in various parts of Africa, England and New Zealand before moving and working in continental Europe.
His style has developed over time and has been influenced at various stages by his own interpretation of a magical form of realism infused with mythology and legend, a linear and “Arabesque” way of dissolving shapes and weaving them back together and the resuscitation of a three-dimensional technique of sculpture from Venice, “Venetian Paperwork”. His techniques and processes provide a glimpse into the lost world of the Old Masterly approach to painting, including creating himself not only the picture, but also the media required to bind the pigments.
